<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device capable of reducing power consumption and crosstalk at the time of driving liquid crystal expressing the cholesteric phase in a matrix manner and the driving method of a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: This display device is a liquid crystal display device in which liquid crystal is made to be driven in a matrix manner by impressing AC pulses on a liquid crystal layer from plural scanning electrodes and plural signal electrodes which cross in a state in which they are opposed with each other. A reset period impressing resetting pulses for resetting the liquid crystal layer to initial states and a selection period impressing selecting pulses for selecting final display states and a sustenance period impressing sustaining pulses for establishing states selected by the selection period are included in one frame and the polarity inversion cycle of the resetting pulses and/or the sustaining pulses are made to be longer than that of the selecting pulses by changing the waveform of pulse voltages to be impressed on a scanning electrode.</p> |
