Vehicle door latch device with double action mechanism

A double action vehicle door latch device which requires an initial inner handle movement to release a lock and a subsequent movement to release the latch (via open lever 24). A handle-operated inner lever 55 moves a lock release lever 34 via coaxial input 48B and output 48A shafts which are connectable/disconnectable by an anti-theft mechanism. The inner lever 55 engages a lever 52B (via 57,60B) which moves a lever 49B fast on shaft 48B. The lock lever 34 is moved by lever 52A which is engaged by lever 49A fast on shaft 48A. A motor acting on the output shaft 48A and a sill button acting via the lever 49B can also move lock lever 34. Fig. 17 shows the anti-theft mechanism in operation with shafts 48A, 48B disconnected.
