PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AWG type optical mutiplexer/demultiplexer having good wavelength stability. SOLUTION: In regulating the optical characteristics of the AWG type optical mutiplexer/demultiplexer provided with an AWG chip 1 provided with an array waveguide 1a, a Peltier element 2, a thermistor thermometer 3 for measuring the temperature of the AWG chip 1 and a temperature control circuit 5 for controlling the measurement temperature thereof to a prescribed control temperature, the temperature control circuit 5 is operated under the environment temperature conditions different from the control temperature and while the exit light from the AWG type optical mutiplexer/demultiplexer is monitored, at least one among the AWG chip 1 Peltier element 2, and the thermistor thermometer 3 are moved. The Peltier element 2, the AWG chip 1 and the thermistor thermometer 3 are fixed to the positions where the design value of the central wavelength of the exit light and the measured value of the central wavelength coincide. |
