METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PHOTONIC CRYSTAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a photonic crystal fiber by which problems generating in the case of manufacturing it using round tube- shaped capillaries are dissolved. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the photonic crystal fiber wherein a large number of capillaries 2 are filled within a cylindrical support tube 1 with highest density in parallel to the central axis of the support tube 1, also a core member 3 becoming a solid core part is arranged at the central axis part of the support tube to make a preform 4, and the diameter of the preform 4 is thinned by wire drawing, the cross sectional outer shape of the capillaries 2 is formed into a polygon which is filled with highest density without generating any gap.
