PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic toner showing good deinking property and whiteness degree in the process of regenerating used paper which are assumed owing to the alkali hydrolysable property ofα-hydroxycarboxylic acid, and having good fixing property, pulverizing property, hot offset resistance and storage property and excellent performance. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic toner, polyα-hydroxycarboxylic acid and polyester resin except for that are mixed to be used as a binder resin. The binder resin of the electrophotographic toner essentially comprises the resin obtained by dispersing and mixing polyα-hydroxycarboxylic acid and polyester resin except for that in a solid state or mixing as a state dissolved in a solvent and removing the solvent. The polyα-hydroxycarboxylic acid is obtained by a direct dehydration polymerization condensation method.
