PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new organic/inorganic complex hydrogel having excellent uniformity, transparency, mechanical properties, water absorption properties and swelling/shrinking characteristics, to provide a method for producing the same and a dried body of the inorganic/inorganic hydrogen obtained by removing water from the hydrogel. SOLUTION: This organic/inorganic complex hydrogel is obtained by including (c) water in a three-dimensional network made by compounding (A) a water-soluble organic polymer with (B) a water-swellable clay mineral uniformly dispersible in water. This method for producing the organic/inorganic complex hydrogel comprises polymerizing a monomer being a constitutent component of the water- soluble organic polymer in the presence of both the water-swellable clay mineral uniformly dispersible in water and water. This dried body of the organic/ inorganic complex hydrogel is obtained by removing water from the gel.
