摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ammonia synthesis catalyst exhibiting a catalytic activity higher than that of a conventionally known one. SOLUTION: This ammonia synthesis catalyst contains a catalytic active metal which comprises ruthenium, is accelerated by at least one component selected from among alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and lanthanides, and is carried by a magnesium oxide material having a specific surface area of 40 m2/g or higher. The ruthenium concentration is 3 wt.%-20 wt.%, and the accelerator content is 0.2-5.0 mol per mol of ruthenium.
