A composition comprises 80 to 25 per cent by weight of finely-divided polytetrafluorethylene and 20 to 75 per cent of finely-divided asbestos. Mixture may be effected by mixing an aqueous slurry of the asbestos with an aqueous dispersion of polytetrafluorethylene, coagulating the polymer particles, removing the aqueous medium and drying. The mixture may be moulded and sintered to produce articles such as valve and pump components, pipes, sheets, rods, tubes, gaskets, packing, cable insulation and insulators.
