PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable columnar foundation body suitable as a base for fixing a pole of a tent, a garage, a clothes-drying platform, a flag, a banner or the like erectable by a method requiring little time and labor and to provide a method for installing the columnar foundation body. SOLUTION: This columnar foundation body includes a base column member comprising a plate-like member and a metallic bar-like member erected from nearly the center section of the plate-like member and a tubular body mounted on the plate-like member to surround at least the lower section of the bar-like member. A decorative plate-like body or a decorative block body is stuck to at least part of the side face of the columnar foundation body. The tubular body of the columnar foundation body comprises a plurality of members freely assembled or split. The bar-like member is inserted into the hollow portion of the tubular body, and the tubular body is arranged on the plate-like member by this installation method for the columnar foundation body. The bar-like member is tubular, and the pole of the tent, garage, clothes-drying platform or the like is inserted into it and fixed.
