摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AWG(array waveguide) module having satisfactory wavelength stability. SOLUTION: When a line connecting respective centers of plural waveguides is defined as an X axis and a Pertier element 2 is laminated under an AWG chip 1 and the sensor part of a thermistor-thermometer 4 is arranged on the X axis, the Pertire element 2 and the sensor part of the thermometer 4 are arranged so that the distance Xt between the center Xo of the element 2 on the X axis and the sensor part and the distance Xa between the Xo and an array waveguide 12 satisfy following equations (1), (2) Xt=(Xa2-α/a')1/2...(1), Xa>(α/a')1/2...(2) (in the equations,αis a coefficient indicating the easiness of propagation of heat from the AWG chip to a temperature measuring means, a' is a coefficient to be calculated from the relation of the temperature difference between the control temperature and the ambient temperature of the AWG module and the surface temperature of the AWG chip).
