METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING OPTICAL FIBER GRATING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical fiber grating enabling to shorten the time necessary for coating layer removal and to improve operation efficiency. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical fiber grating comprises making ultraviolet rays irradiate an optical fiber 5 provided with a bare optical fiber 3 and a coating 4 arranged thereon from a direction on a side face. The optical fiber grating is manufactured by working the side of the coating 4 to be irradiated with the ultraviolet rays so as to make the ultraviolet rays reach the lower side bare optical fiber 3 and subsequently by making the ultraviolet rays irradiate it using a continuous oscillation laser.
