PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of easily manufacturing a multilayer brush of which shape is set depending on the shape of segments forming the commutator. SOLUTION: A two-layer brush is provided in the shape in which the shape of plane projected on the commutator surface is almost similar to the shape of plane of segments. A molding die used for manufacture of this brush includes a lower punch 9 which slides diagonally to the upper and lower directions along a slide groove 8a provided to a lower die 8, and an upper punch 10 which slides diagonally in the upper and lower directions against the lower punch 9. A pressurizing surface 10a of the upper punch 10 is provided almost horizontally, while the pressure receiving surface 9a of the lower punch 9 is provided with inclination as much as the predetermined angle for the pressurizing surface 10a of the upper punch 10. As a result, a first brush material 1A can be formed in the predetermined shape and a second brush powder can be pressurized uniformly. Accordingly, the second brush material 1B having almost constant thickness width can be formed.
