PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contact accurate self-diagnosis using a simple structure. SOLUTION: An automatic transmission is provided with a control means 5 for driving the control of an actuator 3, until a rotational position which a potentiometer 13 detects by receiving the instruction signal of a control switch 17 which is in agreement with a instructed gear-shifting position. At the start of operating a vehicle, a self-diagnosis means 9 for diagnosing faults from whether the output signal of the potentiometer 13 is in response to the drive by driving the actuator 3 until instructed gear shifting position is exceeded, by a prescribed amount in response to the first instruction signal from the control switch 17, carrying out a reverse drive, so as to move to the instructed position and driving by varying the duty ratio of the driving control of the actuator 3. |
