PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required for judging a cylinder, prevent erroneous judgement of the cylinder due to fluctuation of the number of revolutions of an engine, and improve the reliability in control requiring the judgement of the cylinder. SOLUTION: A first signal member is provided on a cam shaft of the internal combustion engine, each cylinder cam angle signal generation part generating each cylinder cam angle signal corresponding to a cam angle per cylinder is provided by the number corresponding to the number of cylinders in the first signal member, and a cam angle sensor detecting each cylinder cam angle signal is provided. A second signal member is provided on a crank shaft, a plurality of crank angle signal generation parts generating the number differing per cylinder of crank angle signals between each cylinder cam angle signal corresponding to the number of cylinders are provided in the second signal member, a crank angle sensor detecting a crank angle signal is provided, and a judging means for judging the cylinder by the number differing per cylinder of crank angle signals between two continuous cylinder cam angle signals is provided.
