For the analysis of fluids by means of light transmission immersion probes are used that are substantially characterized by a rectangular window that is disposed in the center of a cylindrical probe shank and through which the medium to be analyzed flows. The window is transilluminated axially, that means in the direction of the probe shank. The flow through the window may be impaired by burbles that occur especially if the medium does not flow towards the window vertically and that result in a systematic measurement error that is difficult to correct. Some probes are additionally provided with an integrated flow vector probe for detecting the direction and the speed of flow. Said integrated flow vector probe is mounted off-set with respect to the optical measuring path, thereby making a correlation of the transmission data and the flow vector difficult. The invention provides an immersion probe that is characterized in that even considerable errors of angle of incidence of flow do not impair the quality of the optical measurement. At the same time, the measuring volume of a flow vector probe is substantially adapted to the optical measuring volume.
