<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure stably on real time the amount of a reaction gas generated during a thermal forming process of a friction material containing a thermosetting resin to thereby quickly and correctly recognize the state of curing reaction and provide a friction material excellent in quality. SOLUTION: In a metal mold for thermally forming a preform of a friction material containing a thermosetting resin, a fence is installed for preventing rapid diffusion of a gas generated by the reaction of the thermosetting resin with a curing agent to the outside of the mold at the time of degassing. In the inside of the fence, a reflecting mirror is installed for forming an optical path along which light of an optical measuring means passes via the reflecting mirror. Thus, an ammonia gas in the inside of the fence is measured by an optical measuring means (FT-IR) while ensuring a short optical path length and a long transmission distance in the generated gas, enabling the change in the amount of the ammonia gas to be measured correctly and stably.</p> |
