PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner of simple structure constituted to separate sucked dust and air by the action of a centrifugal force, and capable of efficiently sucking dust in any of cleaning modes. SOLUTION: In a case body 2 which has a fitting lower recessed part 38 in the front part and houses a motor-driven blower 6, a lid body 3 which openably covers the upper part of the fitting lower recessed part 38 and the upper part of the case body 2 is installed. A dust collecting part 9 is detachably and integrally sandwiched between the case body 2 and the Lid body 3. On the upper part of a dust collecting cup 65 of cylindrical shape with a bottom, an air sucking opening 70 which communicates to a sucking opening body 52 of a sucking part 51, and a filter body 66 which has an air collecting opening 72 communicating to the air sucking side of the motor-driven blower 6 are provided. The dust collecting part 9 is mounted on a cleaner body case 4 in such a way that the upper face slants toward the upper front side. A battery 18 is arranged in a space under the dust collecting part 9. In either of different cleaning modes which are a travelling condition by means of a turning wheel 39 and travelling wheels 33, 33, and an upright condition in which the rear part faces a floor face, the filter body 66 is not blocked by dust, and efficient dust sucking is achieved. A stable travelling is possible by attaining a low gravitational center.
