PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a large size wide flange shape having a nominal height of >=1000 mm from a continuously cast slab for manufacturing a large size wide flange shape having a nominal height of <=900 mm. SOLUTION: After extending the web height by reducing the deformed web of a beam blank with the horizontal rolls of a universal edger mill (UE mill) at an initial pass of intermediate rolling using a 4-roll UE mill for an intermediate rolling line for the wide flange shapes and using the beam blank whose web is deformed as a base stock, the large size wide flange shape is rolled by using a 4-roll universal roughing mill and the UE mill in each succeeding pass. This beam blank is obtained from the continuously cast sab having a rectangular cross section by the forming pass of a breakdown mill. |
