PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new device for spreading a paper roll all over the paddy field, having a simple structure and capable of spreading the paper roll at a low cost and without much labor, and to provide a method for spreading the paper roll all over the paddy field using the device. SOLUTION: This paper roll-spreading device 1 comprises a paper roll 3 obtained by winding up paper on a tubular member 2, a core shaft 4 for putting into the center of the tubular member 2, two traction arms 6 rotatably and removably set with their one end at both the ends of the shaft 4 perpendicular thereto, an arm connecting member 7 connecting the each other end of the two traction arms 6, two auxiliary arms 8 each set with their one end at one end of each one of the two traction arms 6 and each having a sheave 9 at their another end, a drawing ring 11 attached to the arm connecting member 1 and traction rope 12 attached to the drawing ring 11. The method for spreading the paper roll comprises rolling the paper roll-spreading device.
