PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data broadcast system where a broadcast station broadcast data of a data broadcast program to a broadcast receiver at high speed at any time and that can easily meet a request of increasing number of channels of the data broadcast program. SOLUTION: A broadcast station 10A broadcasts only index information of a data broadcast program to a television receiver 20A by a broadcast channel. The television receiver 20A registers in advance index information of a data broadcast program desired by a user for its acquisition, compares the version of the index information broadcast from the broadcast station 10A with the version of the registered index information to discriminate the presence of an updated data broadcast program. When the program is updated, it is reported to the user, and when the user enters an acquisition instruction, an acquisition request is transmitted to the broadcast station 10A by using a subscriber telephone line of a public network NW. The broadcast station 10A transmits broadcast data of the corresponding data broadcast program to the television receiver 20A that is a request source via the subscriber telephone line in response to the acquisition request.
