PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control all functions of an image processing device with a single control means, to share a memory module with a plurality of functions, and to share the extraction of a specific area in a document and an image process for an image signal in the specific area. SOLUTION: The functions of the whole device are controlled by a system controller 231, the access to the memory module 222 is centrally controlled by an image memory access controller 221, and the memory module 222 is shared by a plurality of functions. A machining range for a memory storage image is specified by the system controller 231. The machining and editing process for the specified machining range is conducted by an image process processor 204. The machining and editing process for the specified machining range is shared by the image process processor 204 and the system controller 231.
