PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact device capable of preventing scattering of an arc produced in the opening of a contact mechanism to the outside of a case. SOLUTION: The contact mechanism 2 and an electromagnet device 3 are housed in the sealed case 1. Partition walls 14 are formed in portions striding over the top surface and side surfaces of the electromagnetic device 3. A vent passage 15 communicating with a space where the contact mechanism 2 is arranged is formed between the partition walls 14 and the inside surfaces of the case 1. The arc gas produced in the opening of the contact mechanism 2 is released through the vent passage 15, scattering of the arc to the outside of the case 1 is prevented, and the bulging of the case 1 can also be suppressed.
