PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery capable of safely performing changing, inspecting, cleaning, and transporting work of a battery even if the battery is charged with static electricity and capable of preventing the battery from being damaged. SOLUTION: In this lead-acid battery, a vent plug 6 is fitted to an exhaust cylinder 4 of a battery container cover 5 through a rubber packing 7. The distance between the rubber packing 7 in the fitting part of the vent plug 6 and the exhaust cylinder 4 and the outside of the battery exceeds the maximum distance in which spark discharge is generated between the vent plug 6 and the earth in relation to the maximum voltage of static electricity charged in the battery.
