PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader for reading out a document image, in which the line image sensor for high resolution can be selected and adapted to a group 3 facsimile machine and the like of low resolution. SOLUTION: The image reader for reading out a document image comprises a low resolution image processing means arranged to process read-out image signals outputted form a high-resolution image sensor for reading out and inputting an image with a first resolution and a low-resolution image sensor for reading out and inputting an image with a second resolution lower than the first resolution, and a resolution-converting means for converting a read-out image signal outputted from the high-resolution image sensor into a read-out image signal of the second resolution. |
