PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading system, and an image reading method in that system, in which acquiring of shading data doe not take long, even if there are many types of scan modes. SOLUTION: At executing of image read out, a decision is made as to whether shading data corresponding to the reading scan mode exists in a shading data file (refer to S21). If it exists, that shading data is read out (S25) and are used for executing read out (S18).
