PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient high-security personal identification system, with which a user can easily and safely perform the change registration of password data without burden to remember a password number. SOLUTION: This personal identification system is composed of at least two password cards each for storing data containing common password data and individual password data, terminal equipment for reading the common password data and the individual password data from the password cards and a managing center for receiving the common password data and the individual password data read from the terminal equipment. The managing center has at least two computers, which receive the password data of the password cards but do not receive all the individual password data of the password cards, and a retrieval system for receiving at least the common password data from these computers, performing a collation concerning whether the contents of these common password data are equal or not and performing an authentication concerning whether a pair of password cards used by the terminal equipment are proper or not. |
