PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the filtering effect of a median filter. SOLUTION: The median filter 10 comprises a 15-tap median filter and a multiplexer provided in its front stage. The multiplexer substitutes the picture element data d0, d4, d5, d9, d10, d14 located at end sections among the 15 two- dimensionally arranged picture element data with the picture element data d7 to be processed at the center, or the minimum value 00f, or the maximum value ffh and feeds them to the 15-tap median filter. The priority order of the picture element data to be processed at the center is increased by substituting the picture element data with the picture element data d7 at the center, or the number of taps is practically reduced by substituting the picture element data with the minimum value or the maximum value. |
