PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To open and close a folder always at a stable position by controlling a position of the folder, and correcting instability of a driving device and phase difference caused by a load. SOLUTION: This folder driving device consists of a pivoting part provided with a driving means which is installed in a folder of a folder opening and closing type portable telephone set and developes a driving force, a fixing part which is linked with a main body and supports it rotatably on both sides of a turning part, a power transfer part which is selectively coupled in the facing directions with a pair of members whose one ends are linked with the driving means and the fixing part, an elastic means which is so compressed elastically that the power transfer part is isolated when an external force is applied to the folder by applying a supporting force larger than a driving torque of the driving means to the power transfer part, and a position sensing means which is set at a position where the turning part and the power transfer part correspond to each other and controls the driving means in the case of the same phase.
