Compounds, compositions, and methods of use thereof are described for the treatment and prevention of bacterial and fungal plant diseases which comprise a compound of the formula (I) wherein R' and R" are each independently a straight or branched chain alkyl moiety of 5 to 8 carbon atoms; M is NH4<+>, Na<+>, K<+>, or Ca<+2>; and x is 1 when M is NH4<+>, Na<+>, or K<+> and x is 2 when M is Ca<+2>. This compound may be in the composition alone or in combination with an antimicrobial agent and/or a suitable carrier or diluent therefor. Such compositions are applied to plants to treat and/or prevent bacterial and fungal infections.
