<p>A semaphorin inhibitor; peripheral or central nerve regeneration promoters containing the semaphorin inhibitor as the active ingredient; and preventives and remedies for neuropathic diseases and neurodegenerative diseases containing these nerve regeneration promoters. A low-molecular weight compound, which inhibits the growth cone involution activity of semaphorin 3A, semaphorin 6C, etc. and/or the nerve extension inhibitory activity of semaphorin in collagen gel at a concentration of 10 νg/ml or below and substantially exerts no effect on cell proliferation, is obtained from a culture of SPF-3059 strain belonging to the genus Penicillium. The low-molecular weight compound having the semaphorin inhibitory activity thus obtained promotes nerve regeneration in vivo.</p> |
