PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize deterioration risk of transmission efficiency even when a slip occurs and to completely optimize effective use of the same transmission. SOLUTION: A safety factor Sf of a belt nipping force of a pulley having a movable sheave in axial direction is set to be as a function of a torque T to be transmitted and an actual transmission ratio so that the actual safety factor in a predetermined transmission mode is reduced from a nominal safety factor Sfo higher than a value 1 to a value higher than the value 1 and lower than the nominal safety factor Sfo. The predetermined transmission mode is related with a relatively high torque in a range of a transmittable torque and a relatively high value of an actual transmission ratio in a range of a transmission ratio of the transmission. |
