<p>A pad (16) for facilitating the safe disposal of surgical instruments (4) which have been used and which are sharp, which pad (16) comprises a base sheet (6), a sheet (8) of a foam material secured to the base sheet (6), a layer (10) of adhesive on part of the sheet of the foam material, and a peel-off protective sheet (12) on the layer (10) of adhesive, the pad (16) being such that the used surgical instruments (4) are able to be stuck on the layer (10) of adhesive after removal of the protective sheet (12), the pad (16) also being such that it is foldable back on itself with the layer (10) of adhesive retaining the pad (16) in its folded condition and with the used surgical instruments (4) then being safely inside the folded pad (16), and the pad (16) being characterised in that it has securing means (18) for releasably securing the pad (16) in position on a support surface whereby the pad (16) does not slip on the support surface during use.</p> |
