PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reader which does not bring about upsizing of the entire of a casing. SOLUTION: A CCD 34 which outputs electric signals of different values according to the intensity of received light, first and second scanning units 31 and 32 which expose the original placed on an original platen 30 by moving a prescribed region and introduce the reflected light from the original to the CCD 34 and a control section 331 which controls the CCD 34 and the first and second scanning units 31 and 32 are disposed within the casing 300 having the transparent original platen 30 at a top wall section. Such a recess 330 which projects downward is formed at a bottom wall 300a of the casing 300. The control section 331 is disposed within the recess 330 so as to exist lower than the moving routes of the first and second scanning units 31 and 32 and the optical paths of the reflected light from the scanning units 31 and 32 to the CCD 34. |
