PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable easy regulation of even suspension characteristics throughout two stages as a suspension force is applied by utilizing a pressure of gas, such as air, without using a coil spring made of a metal not desirable in terms of a weight as a suspension force generating source using a telescopic state for supporting the front wheel of a bicycle or the like. SOLUTION: An inner tube 5 is slidably inserted with a piston 8 at a tip brought into slide contact with the inner surface of an outer tube 2. By the inner tube 5 and the piston 8, the internal part of the outer tube 2 is partitioned into an air chamber 11 on the outer tube 2 side having a large pressure receiving area, an air chamber 12 on the inner tube 5 side having a total pressure receiving area smaller than that of the air chamber 11 on the outer tube 2 side with a communication state always kept, and an air chamber 13 in the inner tube 5. A check valve mechanism 19 has a function to enable mutual communication among the air chambers 11, 12, and 13 through operation from an external part also as a flow of gas flowing from an air chamber 12 on the inner tube 5 side toward an air chamber 12 on the inner tube 5 side is always allowed. The check valve mechanism is located at the piston 8.
