PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical image pickup device capable of performing free image pickup without restricting the range in the image pickup direction of an image pickup device, and an image pickup system by which a video picked up by the spherical image pickup device can be viewed from a remote place. SOLUTION: This image pickup device accommodates a spherical cover made of see-through material and a movable member freely rotating while inscribing in the inner wall of the spherical cover and is provided with an image pickup means on the movable member, thus the range in the image pickup direction of the image pickup device is not restricted. Also the device is provided with a remote controller capable of transmitting a radio signal with the spherical image pickup device, then the picked-up video is viewed by the display means of the remote controller.
