PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a beautiful, lightweight, and comparatively inexpensive novel exterior material facilitating its installation work. SOLUTION: This panel type exterior material is provided with a rectangular main body formed by a metallic plate or a synthetic resin plate, fringe part regions extending in substantially orthogonal direction for a plan including the main body are connected with both long sides of the main body, respectively, and a locking part is provided at a tip of each fringe part region to attach it by fitting it between a plurality of flanged rails arranged across a predetermined interval on a substrate member of a building and locking the locking part in a flange of the rail.
