PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temporary retaining clip for a shaft of a laterally fitting yoke with a simple constitution at a low cost, without interference in bolt tightening operation. SOLUTION: The temporary retaining clip for the shaft of the yoke 1 comprises a mounting portion 10c in a shape to be fitted onto one end portion of a clip portion 11, a supporting portion 10b projectedly formed from an inner end portion of the mounting portion 10c in a direction inclined inside by a predetermined angleαfrom a direction perpendicular to a bolt axial direction, with bending in an outer direction at the inner end portion as a supporting point within an elastic limit, and a cylindrical locking portion 10a integrally formed with the tip portion of the supporting portion 10b internally fitted to a nut hole 11c or bolt hole 11e movable in the bolt axial direction. When the supporting portion 10b is pressed by a shaft 3, the locking portion 10a retreats into the nut hole 11d or the bolt hole 11e to allow passage of the shaft 3 and then elastically returns to lock the shaft 3.
