PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base precursor which has high mobility in a photographic coating, retains immobility during the storage of a raw film and does not interact with another component or air, to provide a photographic element containing an photographically useful compound which is stable until the need arises, and to provide a method for developing an image in the photographic element with a processing solution having a simple composition. SOLUTION: The photographic element includes at least one photosensitive layer on the support and contains at least one photographically useful compound ionically bound to an ion exchange matrix and other than a reducing agent.
