PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium of organic dyestuffs which can record and reproduce by a blue semi-conductor laser. SOLUTION: An optical recording medium has a recording layer which makes it possible to record and reproduce information on a substrate by a laser beam. The recording layer contains a complex represented by general formula (1) (wherein M is metal or metallic ion and R is H atom, substitutable hydrocarbon radical or substitutable heterocyclic radical, R1 and R2 are each respectively hydrogen atom, substitutable hydrocarbon radical, substitutable heterocyclic radical, -NR3R4 radical, -OR5 radical or SR6 radical (wherein R3, R4, R5 and R6 represent H atom or arbitrary substitutional radicals). L represents mono- or bi-dentate ligand of neutral or minus monovalence, n represents integers from 1 to 4, and X and Y are integers which satisfies the following formula n+(number of valence of L)×x=(number of valence of M), 2n+(number of dentate of L)×x+y=(number of coordination of M). |
