PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack and pinion steering gear capable of absorbing tooth hitting sound caused by looseness between a rack and a pinion, thereby restraining the tooth hitting sound from being transmitted as noise to a driver. SOLUTION: A ring 11 made of a synthetic resin is provided to prevent the tooth hammering sound between the rack 6a and the pinion 5a, from being propagated to a yoke plug 9.
