PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane separation type nitrogen gas generating apparatus which is capable of reducing the ratio of amount of a feed gas mixture/ amount of generated nitrogen gas and is also capable of producing nitrogen gas which is obtained at a low cost and has stable concentration and also to provide a method of generating the nitrogen gas by using the same. SOLUTION: This membrane separation type nitrogen generating apparatus includes permeation modules which produce nitrogen gas by using mixture gas as feed gas and the permeation modules are disposed with at least not less than two of permeation modules arranged in parallel, characterized in that the number of the permeation membrane modules can be controlled by opening/closing each valve connected with each permeation membrane module, and the method of generating the nitrogen gas by using the same is also disclosed.
