Mechanical coupling for cooperating rotatable members

A mechanical coupling (20) to transfer torque between cooperating rotatable members (12,16) each of substantially circular cross section and aligned along an axis of rotation (24) comprises first and second members (12,16) including, respectively, first and second surface portions (14,18) in juxtaposition across an interface (27). Each surface portion (14,18) includes a plurality of spaced apart teeth (22,26) mechanically interlocking at the interface (27). The first surface portion (14) comprises a fiber reinforced material including fibers oriented within about 45 DEG , on either side, of an axis of rotation (24). Provided is clamping means (28) to hold the first and second surface portions (14,18) together at the interface (27).
