PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire for an automobile, for instance, a large-sized vehicle, a construction vehicle or an aircraft sustaining a heavy load in good performance and a rubber composition for use therein for retarding generation of any irregular wear on the tread during running. SOLUTION: The tread composition for the heavy duty tire is composed of an elastomer matrix containing at least one diene elastomer in its great majority portion and having an active functional radical to a coupling with a reinforcing white filler at least at one termination of the chain, reinforcing filler containing reinforcing white filler in its great majority portion and a coupling agent for the diene elastomer turned into functional radical and the reinforcing white filler.
