PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a planar display device in which an optical control tape can easily and precisely be stuck to a display cell. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the device consists of the first step to confirm a position to which an initial edge part of the optical control tape 32 is stuck on the display cell 16, the second step to pull the initial edge part of the optical control tape 32 out by drawing a release paper 34 in a direction reverse to the pulling out direction while making a plane of the optical control tape 32 to be stuck face downward, the third step to align the initial edge part of the optical control tape 32 on the position to stick the same, the fourth step to press the initial edge part of the optical control tape 32 to the position to stick the same with a press roll 56 and the fifth step to move the display cell 16 into the pulling out direction and to stick the optical control tape 32 thereto while pressing down the optical control tape 32 with the press roll 56. |
