NEW OXIDATION METHOD FOR ALCOHOLS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for oxidizing a primary alcohol into an aldehyde and a secondary alcohol into a ketone without using a heavy metal oxide and a hypervalent iodine compound and without requiring an exact temperature control. SOLUTION: An N,S-disubstituted sulfinimide acid chloride is used as an oxidizing agent for an alcohol and the alcohol is oxidized in the presence of a base to solve the above subject.
