Method of forming corrosion inhibiting films with hydrogenated benzotriazole derivatives

A method of inhibiting corrosion in an aqueous system that is in contact with a metallic surface. The method involves adding to the aqueous system an effective amount of at least one hydrogenated benzotriazole derivative. The method finds use in treating the inside surfaces of copper and copper alloy pipes, in an aqueous environment, to enhance corrosion inhibition of copper and its alloys.
