The spacer for a door or window leaf (4) and associated frame (21) has an arm (1) which is pivotally mounted (2) at the base of a recess (6) in the edge (3) of the door. The arm pivots around an axis perpendicular to the door between stowed and extended positions. The free end of the arm has a connecting finger (11) to engage a slide on the frame when the leaf is to be held open.
