Diagnosing for materials handling vehicles

A materials handling vehicle diagnosis system leads step-by-step through fault diagnosis and repair. Event codes are assigned to faults to uniquely identify corresponding systems and are displayed when the faults are detected. The system needing diagnosis/repair, tools and probable parts needed are known from the code. The code is used to access diagnosis information identifying the faulty portion of the vehicle, the faulty component(s) and, preferably, a pictogram of that portion of the vehicle. A technician locates that vehicle portion where components are pictorially depicted to assist in their location. All vehicle components are marked by identifiers consistently used throughout the diagnostics, pictorials and service manuals. The diagnostic information outlines component(s) diagnosis with the vehicle electronic control system monitoring its inputs and outputs and applying limited duration full power test signals to components during diagnosis. Testing is done from the end of control paths back to the controller.
