PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the light resistance, chemical resistance and weather resistance of a coated film by using pigment instead of dyes, further to simplify the stage of color coating on the surface of a metallic material, after pretreatment for a metallic body to be conducted by dipping the same into an electrolytic cell charged with a one liquid type electrodeposition coating material and performing electrodepositing coating and coloring by a single stage. SOLUTION: This method includes a pretreatment stage for a body to be conducted in which the surface of the metallic body is cleaned and is thereafter coated with copper plating and nickel plating, a one liquid type electrodeposition coating material producing stage in which a crosslinked polymer is formed by using a melamine resin and a modified acrylic resin, and the polymer is mixed with water-solubilized organic dispersed pigment of 0.1 to 5 wt.%, an electrodeposition coating stage in which the metallic body subjected to the pretreatment is dipped into an electrolytic cell charged with the one liquid electrodeposition coating material as an anode and is subjected to electrodesposition coating and a thermosetting stage in which the metallic body subjected to the electrodeposition coating is heated to form a coating film.
