PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat and effectively utilize a coal ash in large scale, discharged from a thermal power plant or the like, especially fly ash, more specifically the coal ash having a large average particle diameter by using an environment- friendly method. SOLUTION: This soil conditioner comprises a ceramic formed product obtained by firing a raw material comprising the fine particles of the coal ash having 10-40 μm average particle diameter, and an inorganic thickener, and the ceramic formed product comprises the mutually bound fine particles of the coal ash, and has a porous structure having many fine pores formed among the bound particles. The average pore radius of the pores is 0.1-5.0 μm, and the whole volume of the pores is 0.01-0.5 cc/g. The soil conditioner obtained by firing the coal ash is excellent in water-bonding properties and air permeability, and can improve the germination rate of a plant by properly using the soil conditioner. |
